The difference between Triduum of Renewal and Spiritual Exercises  

The Triduum of Renewal retreat weekend has the purpose of diving more deeply into our Regnum Christi vocation. The retreat usually focusses on one theme intended to bring about certain aspects or virtues necessary in the life of a Regnum Christi member. Here we talk very openly and often about the movement in our lives. The goal is to leave the retreat with a great spirit of renewed enthusiasm for serving the Church through our Regnum Christi charism.

The Spiritual Exercises retreat weekend is based on the dynamics of an Ignatian format. The goal is deeper conversion of our life to God. This retreat weekend is usually open to all (not just Regnum Christi members) in order to offer people we are in contact with the experience of this deeper conversion. Regnum Christi will be mentioned during the retreat but that is not the focus. Veterans of this four day retreat may begin to feel the need for a longer time and more personalized form of spiritual exercises. This is why we offer 8 Day Spiritual Exercises every year.

Regnum Christi members are invited to plan on attending one retreat (of both if they wish) every year. Both forms of retreat are very important and one should discern in prayer and spiritual direction which would be more beneficial for your soul at this present moment. It may be that timing or family issues will dictate which retreat you are able to attend. If this is the case, it is Providence deciding and one can be at peace!
